Charlene Nicole Baldwin, 19, of Vian, was charged in Sequoyah County District Court Jan. 6 with burglary in the second degree and conspiracy to commit a felony.

According to the Vian police report on Dec. 30, Vian Police Officer Brandon McDonald received a call in reference to Hamilton’s Store, located north of Vian on U.S. Highway 82, being broken into.

According to the report, the unknown caller told McDonald that a suspicious person was running away from the store with two boxes. McDonald arrived on the scene and saw the suspect running east into the field behind an auto body business and the Dollar Store.

Sequoyah County Deputies Joe Oliver, Dennis Thomas and Shane McHale arrived to help assist in the burglary. While deputies were looking in the field, Oliver located a 30-pack of beer under electrical lines.

According to the report Oliver and McHale drove through the field to see if they could find Baldwin, and as Oliver and Thomas were driving the suspect stood up to show herself.

Baldwin was transported to the Sequoyah County Jail and was released on bond the next morning. Baldwin’s Preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4.
