Cherokee Life Ways Classes registration will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Muldrow Cherokee Community Center. Sponsored by the Cherokee Nation and the Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO), the free classes will begin in January and will include basket weaving, beading, Indian marbles, stickball, Cherokee language and other topics. The target audience is students in the fourth through eighth grades and elders age 55 and over. Angela Strozier is the MCCO Cherokee Heritage director.

Sequoyah County Historical Society members will make their annual trip to historical sites on Thursday. This year’s trip will be through Southeast Sequoyah County. Members will gather at the society’s museum at 200 E. Creek in Sallisaw at 8:30 a.m. then go by caravan to several communities. Everyone is invited to join members on the trip.

Blackgum Harvestime Church will hold a Gospel Hee Haw Dinner and Show, beginning at 6 pm. Saturday. The cost is $10 for adults which will include an all-you-can-eat dinner of beans, cornbread, slaw, dessert and drink, along with admission to the show. The cost for children ages 5 to 10 is $5. Riding for Treats will be the Sallisaw Shodeo 2009 Halloween Bash, a fundraiser for the shodeos, and will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sallisaw Rodeo Arena. Special fun events will include a costume contest for the children and their horses, riding for apples, the egg race, a stick horse race, roll the hay, dummy roping, a balloon pop, and more. Horses are not needed for some events and everyone is invited. The $15 entry fee is for all events. Participating parents will be handing out safe treats for the participating shodeo kids from their trucks and trailers. Those attending are asked to bring a garage sale item for an auction to be held while the pies are baking.

An Arts and Crafts Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Stilwell National Guard Armory at West Pine and 5th Streets in Stilwell to raise money for a children’s wing on the Stilwell library. The sale is sponsored by the Stilwell Public Library Friends Society and Masonic Lodge No. 11. Vendors will have Cherokee baskets, paintings, woodwork, jewelry, wreaths, candles, cards, wind chimes, native art, fabric crafts, homemade soaps, dream catchers and Christmas items.

Webbers Falls Masonic Lodge No. 14 will hold a turkey shoot beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, on old Highway 64 west of the baseball field in Webbers Falls. The categories are for stock shotgun and .22-caliber, for which shells will be provided, and bow, for which participants must bring their own arrows. The cost is $2 a shot, with 10 shooters per round, and with open sights. The winner of each round will receive a voucher for a frozen turkey from Harps in Gore. Shooters under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign a release form. A concession stand will be open.

Sallisaw’s second annual One Stop Christmas Shop will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds building, at the corner of East Redwood and Shurley in Sallisaw. A fashion show will be presented by Cato’s, and a silent auction will be held for jewelry, purses, and interior decorating items. A food court will be open to dine in or carry out.
