The Christie family and friends annual reunion will be held at Wauhillau in Adair County beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. The location is off State Highway 51 at the Wauhillau Road (Indian Road) in the Cherokee Nation housing addition. Signs will mark the way to the site.

The Blackgum Community Center and Blackgum Volunteer Fire Department will hold their fall sale from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and on Saturday, Nov. 21. The sale will include furniture, beds, TVs, linens, dishes, cookware, clothing, new stocking stuffers, Christmas items and more. The community center is in Blackgum, north of Vian on State Highway 100 and one mile east of Tenkiller Dam and State Park. All money raised will be used to support the community center to help pay for utilities and other costs. The building serves as a meeting place for the fire department.

A fashion show will be presented by Cato’s, and a silent auction will be held for jewelry, purses, and interior decorating items. A food court will be open to dine in or carry out. Members of the Tenkiller Women’s Club will hold their November meeting at noon Wednesday at the restaurant of the Cherokees. The program will be given by Barbara McAlester, an opera singer with the Cherokee Nation. The cost of the buffet meal is $10, which includes a drink, dessert and gratuity. The Marble City Nutrition Center will serve a Thanksgiving dinner, with all the trimmings, on Thursday. Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw will host a Men’s Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the hospital. The fair will include screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, BMI, PSA, bone density for men over 65, and an optional prostate exam for free.
