The Roland Public Schools second-grade Christmas program will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school gymnasium.

The Marble City Nutrition Center will serve a Christmas lunch beginning at 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marble City Community Center at 711 N. Main. Anyone over age 50 may eat free, but organizers suggest a small donation to help support the center. The center will be closed from Dec. 21 through 25. It will open again on Dec. 28. Anyone who would like to volunteer to assist with the meal or supplies is asked to contact Ellen McClendon at 775-2158.

The last day of school before the Christmas break will be Friday at Roland Public Schools. The break will run from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1. Students will return to school on Monday, Jan. 4.

Professional Home Hospice Volunteers and Threads of Love members will hold a Memory Angel Tree reception from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Professional Home Hospice at 103 N. Walnut in Sallisaw. Crocheted Angels will be given at no charge to take home in memory of a loved one who has died. The Vian Wolverine wrestling team will hold a pancake breakfast beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday in the Vian High School gymnasium. The breakfast will be $5 per person, and the wrestling will follow the breakfast at 9 a.m.

The 12th annual Green Country Opry Christmas Music Show will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Tommie Spear Middle School Auditorium in Sallisaw. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. The Vian Methodist Church choir will perform a Christmas presentation at the 11 a.m. service Sunday. A luncheon will follow the service.

The Lee’s Chapel Women’s group has collected and published a cookbook with over 300 recipes from past and present members. The cookbook, “Tried and True Recipes,” was written in honor of loved ones who have passed away and includes their recipes. The books may be purchased from any member and are $10. The Caring Hearts, a community group helping those in need, will share a free Christmas dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Sallisaw Civic Center, at 111 N. Elm. The dinner will include turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, green beans, corn and dessert, provided through donations. Anyone wanting a hot meal and to share the spirit of Christmas is invited to attend.

Members of the Brent community, south of Sallisaw, will hold a community meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, to discuss the construction of a community center. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
