The Roland City Park Clean Up Day is being held from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday. Lunch will be provided for volunteers at the Waylon Jones Complex next to the park. The town is providing supplies needed for the clean up.

The Roland High School Roland Madness basketball event is being held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Roland High School gym. Reserve seating tickets for the basketball games are $78 per seat, and all ticket holders from last season have until Nov. 15 to claim their same seats. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets may contact any Athletic Booster Club member or Donna Edwards at (918) 427-5454. New ticket holders will be drawn at Ranger Madness to claim their seats. A silent auction will also be held to raise money for the booster club, and all money will go to Roland School athletics, including golf, track, softball, baseball, football, cheerleading and basketball.

The Tenkiller Area Community Organization (TACO) is holding the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the TACO Building on Mullens Lane in Cookson from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Cost for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and under.

“The Great Old Houses of Sallisaw” will be discussed and shown in a slide show at 2 p.m. Sunday at a meeting of the Sequoyah County Historical Society. Earl Strebeck will present the program, which will be held at the society’s museum at 200 E. Creek in Sallisaw.

“Fry Bread the Healthy Way,” by Healthy Lifestyles will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the new Muldrow Cherokee Community Center. The presentation is sponsored by the Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO) and Cherokee Nation Healthy Nation. Mary Owl-Batt of the Redbird Smith Health Clinic in Sallisaw will collaborate with MCCO Healthy Lifestyles to make fry bread using half whole wheat flour. Members of the Tenkiller Women’s Club will meet at noon Wednesday at the Restaurant of the Cherokees in Tahlequah. The program, “Travel Tips and Popular Destinations,” will be presented by Candy Jarvis from the Cherokee Friends Travel Club. She will have gifts for those attending. The buffet will be $10, which includes a drink and dessert. Reservations may be made by calling Pat Sharp at (918) 457-4419 no later than Nov. 17. The annual Sallisaw Christmas Lighting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday on the lawn at Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library. The lighting is sponsored by the city and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce. The chamber will provide hot chocolate and cookies, and Santa will be on hand to visit with the children.

The Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO) will begin holding Cancer Survivor Support Group meetings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the new MCCO Center. The new support group will meet on the first Monday of each month. Everyone who has or has ever had breast cancer is invited to attend. A recycling project will also be done by the group for hats, scarves, du-rags and wigs for those women undergoing chemotherapy and needing head covering.

Seniors, their family members or friends who need assistance on completing the Medicare Prescription Drug Program information may take advantage of the assistance. Seniors must bring their Medicare, Medicaid, insurance cards and a complete list of medications with dosage. The Muldrow Lions Club Christmas Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. This year’s theme is “Sharing and Giving.” The parade will start at the east end of Muldrow and will end at the entrance to Muldrow City Park. Those with floats are advised to arrive early. Prizes will be awarded to the best floats, which will get $200 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place. Float entry forms are available at Tim’s Video. Garrison Creek Riders will hold their Shodeo Awards Banquet at the Muldrow High School cafeteria at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. Members are reminded to bring enough food for their family to the pot-luck dinner, such as a meat main dish, casserole, a dessert, bread or a favorite recipe. Lineup will be at 5:30 p.m. The theme is “Rekindle the True Meaning of Christmas.” The parade is co-sponsored by the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce and the city, and all high school bands are invited to participate. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in the business, non-profit and school organization categories. Entry forms will be available at the chamber office on Nov. 24.
