The Muldrow Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary Post 8384, at U.S. Highway 64 and Wilson Rock Road, will host a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The cost is $3.50 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. Donations will also be appreciated. The menu includes pancakes, toast, eggs, bacon or sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee.
The money will go to Operation Up-Link, which allows soldiers overseas to call or use a computer with a web cam to keep in touch with family and friends at no cost. The soldiers can participate in the program from Friday evening to Sunday evening.
The auxiliary and VFW also supports the youth programs Patriots Pen for grades six through eight and Voice of Democracy and the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Program for students in grades nine through 12. The first, second and third place winners in the art program receive cash prizes in the area contest and go on to compete at the district level. Winners there and at the state level then compete on the national level with prize money between $10,000 and $30,000.
The VFW Auxiliary Post No. 8384 also supports the National Childrens’ Home and Unmet Needs of Veterans and Military Personnel and their families.
Auxiliary member Jackie Plank said, “We hope you will plan to attend this breakfast as just a way to say thank you to our soldiers and their families and show your support for them.”
