The Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO) has developed a breast cancer survivor support group that meets at 5 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the MCCO Community Center conference room.

The goal of the group is to provide support and a place to meet and discuss their fears and concerns with others who have been through treatments for breast cancer, Jenetta Barrow, MCCO spokesman, said.

Group members also have a recycle project that offers head coverings to those who have gone through chemotherapy and lost their hair. Wigs, scarves and hats are available at the community center.

Walmart in Sallisaw has given the group a $1,000 grant to expand and increase the program, Barrow said.

“Anyone interested in being a part of the support group is asked to please come,” Barrow said.

Barrow and Jennifer Partain are the coordinators of the program.
