Christmas parades, Santa coming to county

The Vian Lions Club Christmas Parade of Lights will be held Dec. 3 with the Gore, Marble City, Muldrow, Roland, Sallisaw, and Webbers Falls parades Dec. 12.
The theme at the Vian parade will be “Peace” and the grand marshals will be veterans, Seth Reed, parade chairman, said.
The parade will be at 6 p.m. The grand prize float will receive $100, honorable mention will receive $50 and a $50 savings bond will go to each category winner. The categories include best band, car or truck, four-wheeler, two-wheeler, animal and clown, Reed said.
The Gore and Webbers Falls Chambers of Commerce Parade will begin in Webbers Falls at 10 a.m. and continuing over the bridge to Gore. The Gore Parade will begin at 11 a.m. ending at the Gore Fire Station where Santa Claus will greet parade goers, Rena Thorstensen, Chamber of Commerce media liaison, said.
The theme this year will be A Musical Christmas.
An Open House will be held at Gore Town Hall and will be serving hot drinks and refreshments.
The Marble City Christmas will be at 1 p.m. and the theme is An Old Fashion Christmas. The parade will begin at the Marble City Community Building and will continue through downtown. Hot chocolate and coffee will be served at the old Citizen State Bank Building.
The Muldrow Lions Club Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the east end of Muldrow and end at the Muldrow City Park entrance. The theme this year is A White Christmas and Sequoyah County District 1 Commissioner Bruce Tabor will be the grand marshal.
The first place float will receive $200, second place will be $150, and third place will receive $100.

The annual Roland Christmas Parade will be at noon. The parade will begin at the intersection of U.S. Highway 64 and Roland Road and will end at the Lions Park.
The theme this year will be Ole Time Christmas and the grand marshall will be Lt. Gov. Jari Askins.
Cash prizes will be awarded; first place will be $250, second place will be $150, and third will be $50.
The Sallisaw Christmas Parade theme will be Christmas at the Movies and the parade will begin at 6 p.m. Lt. Gov. Jari Askins will be the grand marshall.
Christmas goodies will be given away to children ages 3 through 10 at the library gazebo.
