An agreement between the County Treasurer Trica Yates, Court Clerk Vicki Beaty and the Sequoyah County Commissioners to transfer funds from Yates’ and Beaty’s cash accounts was approved during Monday’s meeting.

Yates and Beaty will transfer funds from their cash accounts so the cash-strapped county could pay the health insurance for county employees. Yates’ office agreed to supply $40,000 and Beaty’s office agreed to supply $30,000, for a total of $70,000. That money will be reimbursed in the next budget.

In other business, the commissioners voted to approve the Oklahoma Department of Transportations required annual reports. The five-year road maintenance priority plan and accomplishment plan for the 2009 fiscal year included eight projects, which totaled $575,578. The cost for 2010-2014 maintenance priority plan and accomplishment plan for Districts 1, 2, and 3 is estimated at $13 million.

The commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding between the sheriff’s office and the U.S. Marshals Service that will allow the sheriff’s office to participate in their fugitive task force.

“The U.S. Marshals Service asked the department to participate. I think there are four other agencies in the eastern district working with the Marshals Service,” Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said.

Lockhart said the Marshals Service would provide the sheriff’s office with $25,000 for a vehicle, $5,000 to equip the vehicle and $6,000 for the fuel.

“Its not going to cost us anything,” Lockhart said.

Tabor said it sounded like a good deal to him and the commissioners voted unanimously to approve it.

The commissioners voted to table a decision to re-appoint Dana Tracy to the 911 Trust Authority Board during the meeting Monday.

District 1 Commissioner Bruce Tabor said several individuals who have expressed interest in serving on the seat have contacted the board. Tabor said the commission would like to interview the other people who are interested in the position before making any decisions.
