Phillip Lefler’s 25-yard field goal with :04 left handed Sallisaw a dramatic 31-28 comeback win over Collinsville on Friday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.

Sallisaw trailed 21-11 entering the fourth quarter, but eventually pulled even at 28-28 when Matt Oberste scored on a 5-yard run with 2:34 left.

On Collinsville’s ensuing possession, Sallisaw defensive back Blaine Kilinc picked off a Cardinal pass and returned it 18 yards to the Collinsville 10. That set up Lefler’s winning kick as time ran down.

The first-round playoff victory improved Sallisaw’s record to 10-1, while Collinsville closed at 6-5.

The Black Diamonds will host Bishop McGuinness in a Class 4A in the next round on Friday. McGuinness defeated Tecumseh 49-0 to set up a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal won by the Irish.

Collinsville took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on touchdown runs by Trevor Rabbitt and Shane Douglas.

Sallisaw pulled within 14-8 by halftime after Oberste fired an 18-yard TD pass to Chase Hunt and Jeromy Davenport added the two-point conversion.

Lefler kicked three field goals in the second half and Oberste had two TD runs to complete the Diamond comeback.

Oberste had 87 yards rushing and completed 21 of 28 passes for 265 yards in the victory. Trey Wiley caught 12 of those passes for 147 yards.

Central 22, Wayne 21

The Tigers scored a late touchdown and got the two-point conversion to overcome Wayne on Friday night and post a close win in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

Central trailed 21-14 in the fourth quarter, but Shade Kutil threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Panther Cooksey to pull the Tigers within one. Kutil then passed to Brandon Holt for the game-winning conversion.

Central had taken a 14-7 lead in the first half on Kutil’s 16-yard TD pass to Joe Gibson and a 10-yard TD run by Ryan Rogers.

The Tigers had a chance to pull away late in the half, but Dylan Mars picked up a Central fumble and returned it 92 yards to pull the visitors within 14-13 at halftime.

Josh Barrett tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Ryan Worley for Wayne, which concluded its season at 6-5.

Central improved to 10-1 and moved into the second round. The Tigers will play on Friday night at Salina, which defeated Hominy 33-6.

Claremore Sequoyah 52, Roland 14

ROLAND - Roland’s four-game winning streak was snapped on Friday night with a first-round loss to Sequoyah in the Class 3A playoffs.

The Rangers closed their season with a 6-5 record. Sequoyah, the defending 3A finalist, moved into the second round and will play at Tuttle on Friday.

Jeremy Morris scored on a 4-yard run for Roland and Teven Thompson added a 10-yard TD run. Thompson was Roland’s leading rusher with 94 yards on 16 carries.

Michael Wangsgard ran 11 times for 176 yards and three touchdowns for Sequoyah.

Pawhuska 40, Vian 13

VIAN - Pawhuska jumped out to a 19-0 lead in the first half and eliminated the Wolverines from the Class 2A playoffs on Friday night with a dominant showing at St. John Stadium.

Freshman quarterback Landon Decker accounted for Vian’s touchdowns, scoring on a 1-yard run and tossing a 6-yard TD pass to Colby Ross.

Kyle Culver rushed for 144 yards on 13 carries for the Huskies (9-2), who advance to play Morris.

Vian ended its season at 9-2.

Stratford 41, Gore 14

STRATFORD - The Bulldogs knocked Gore out of the Class A playoffs on Friday night at Blackburn Stadium.

Pirate quarterback Logan Andrews threw for 185 yards in the loss as Gore finished its season at 8-3.

Stratford (7-4) moves into the second round against Tonkawa.

Kiefer 43, Gans 6

GANS - Ostin Broadhead ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more on Friday as Kiefer picked up a first-round win in the Class B playoffs at Grizzly Field.

The Trojans advance to the quarterfinals against Garber, which beat Allen 50-12 in the first round.

Cody Johnson scored the lone Gans touchdown on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Gans finished its season at 7-4 with the setback.
