A Muldrow man who was booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw for allegedly raping his stepdaughter who was 15 at the time was charged in Sequoyah County District Court June 19.

Harold Leon Fields, 37, is charged with two counts of second-degree rape, one count of first-degree rape and two counts of lewd molestation.

According to court records, between the months of August and December 2006 Fields allegedly committed lewd and lascivious acts and allegedly had sexual intercourse with his stepdaughter in their home.

Cindy Smith investigator with the Sequoyah County District Attorney’s Office received a report on May 19 of the allegations of lewd molestation. During the investigation Smith spoke with the victim who said her stepfather had been touching her for about two years.

According to the report the victim told Smith she had repeatedly told Fields to stop touching her but he wouldn’t.

Smith spoke with Fields at the Muldrow Police Department. Fields reportedly told Smith he knew why she was there and told Smith he had touched his stepdaughter on more then one occasion. Fields also told Smith that between June and August 2008 he entered his stepdaughter’s room and had sex prior to her 17th birthday.

Fields’ attorney, Otto Fry, asked for his client’s arraignment to be scheduled at 1:30 p.m. July 22 in the Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw. The case will be heard before Special District Judge Dennis Sprouse.

Fields remains in the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on a $100,000 bond. If convicted Fields could serve a total of 20 years in prison.

this type of action has become too common. childern are not safe even at home, its sad when a child can`t even trust family members. where does it end? we hear on the news daily jails are over crowded,no funding for jails. there is no fear of the law today. hanging should be punishment for murder, castration should be punishment for raping a child!
