An Angel Tree gift can be a welcome experience for children in need. The tree can also be a relief for parents who struggle financially or who have no income at all.

Angel Tree gifts may include needed clothing; special needs gifts and other wished-for toys that some children may not receive otherwise. Several places are sitting up Angel Trees to help make children’s wishes come true during this Christmas season.

Sallisaw

•Catholic Charities and several area churches and businesses are putting an Angel tree together inside the First National Bank of Sallisaw located at 1720 E. Cherokee. An angel can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

•Revival Fires Church at 822 S. Elm St. will have over 30 angels to choose from. Angels can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are over 30 angels on the tree. The gift deadline is Dec. 17.

Vian

•Vian Nursing home is displaying angels in the main entrance at 509 Thorton St. Gifts and angels should be brought back by Dec. 20.

Gore

•Gore Nursing Center on State Highway 100 will be having their angels on display inside the main entrance. The deadline to return the angel gift is Dec. 17.

•Gore Methodist Church and Harps Grocery Store will have an angel tree inside Harps Grocery at 603 North Main Street. The deadline to return gifts is Dec. 15.

Roland

•Sequoyah East Nursing Center LLC at 701 Taylor Dr. has angels ready for pick up in the lobby of the nursing center. The deadline to return the angel gifts is Dec. 15.

All Angel Tree gifts should be wrapped and the angel taped to the present to ensure the gift is taken to the proper person. If an Angel Tree is not listed contact Your TIMES at (918) 775-4433 to add to the list.

Also the Child Welfare Advisory Board will be sponsoring the 12th annual Green Country Opry Christmas Music Show Dec. 19 in Sallisaw. Proceeds from the show will benefit foster and special needs children in Sequoyah County.

The show will be held at 7 p.m. at the Tommie Spear Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. For ticket information contact Pam Peterson or Dana Stites at (918) 776-8000.

Your TIMES also has a Mitten Tree set up for donations of mittens, gloves, scarves and hats. Gifts may be placed on the tree between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gifts will be distributed through Catholic Charities in Sallisaw.
