A Vian woman was attacked and beaten with whisky and beer bottles by two men in her own home on Oct. 30.

Christopher Hopf, 21, and Derek Elbon, 20, both of Vian are accused of attacking the woman and stealing her sister’s wallet.

According to the police report, Elbon and Hopf came to the woman’s home and were drinking beer and whisky. At some point an argument broke out between the two men and the women.

The victims asked the men to leave and they refused and began hitting the woman in the face and back. After the attack the men allegedly walked out of the house to leave but came back and started hitting the woman in the head with beer bottles and a whisky bottle.

After the men left the victim’s sister called 911. The woman was taken to Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw by ambulance were she was treated and released.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Deputy Monty Davis and Vian Police Officer Eric Cope began searching for the vehicle Elbon and Hopf drove off in. Cope located a car that fit the description about a mile away from the victim’s home.

Davis said while speaking with Hopf, he could smell alcohol. Davis said Hopf was unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred. When the officers searched Elbon and Hopf they found Zanax pills and a wallet belonging to the victim’s sister.

Both men were taken to the Sequoyah County Jail and booked in on first degree burglary, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, public intoxication, driving under the influence, minor in possession of alcohol, possession of a controlled dangerous substance without a valid prescription and possession of stolen property.

Elbon was released Monday on a $5,000 bond, while Hopf is still being held on a $25,000 bond.
