Through an on going investigation between Sallisaw Police Department and the District 27 Drug Task Force (DTF), agents and officers were able to locate a suspected marijuana distribution site in Sallisaw Thursday.

Wesley Daniel, 29, of Sallisaw and William Hall, 25, of Fort Smith, Ark., were arrested Thursday and booked into the Sallisaw City Jail on various drug charges.

DTF agents and Sallisaw police department teamed up to investigate information about suspicious packages that were being delivered through local parcel delivery services to the home of Daniel.

“Between the information the Sallisaw Police Department acquired and what the DTF had, we had enough to suspect a trafficking level distribution site was located in our county. With all the information we were able to travel to the home, ” Frank Lloyd, DTF investigator said.

“Detective John Weber and District 27 DTF went to the scene and gained consent to search the home,” Assistant District Attorney Kyle Waters said.

Lloyd stated upon arrival to the Daniel residence, DTF agents were able to observe several packages containing a green leafy substance in several locations inside through the window before Daniel answered the door.

According to Lloyd, Hall was in a pickup attempting to leave, when an agent asked Hall if he had any illegal drugs in the vehicle and Hall told the agent he had a smoking device in his possession.

During a further search of the vehicle a hidden compartment was discovered, and a small amount of marijuana along with numerous air fresheners and some prescription drugs where found in the compartment. Another vehicle at the home of Daniels was discovered to have two large suitcases with several packages of marijuana.

With efforts from different law enforcement agencies, a unofficial amount of 27 pounds of marijuana was discovered along with several legal prescription drugs. The prescription drugs that were seized are OxyContin Roxicodone, Percocet, and Lorcet, which are suspected of being used for illegally.

“This all took place less then 1,000 feet from a school and a daycare. Officers seized both vehicles and about $480. The incident is still under investigation,” Police Chief Shaloa Edwards said.
