Chris Keathley, Sequoyah county emergency management director confirmed at 4 p.m. Friday that the mysterious rumbling noises heard throughout the county since Tuesday were bombs being disposed of by the U.S. Army Ammunition Plant located in McAlester.

“This is nothing unusual, the plant deploys old bombs starting from between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.,” Keathley said. He also explained that the plant is known to set off bombs daily for the last 40 to 50 years, but why it is effecting us now is the mystery,” Keathley said.

Keathley said the U.S. Geological Survey in Norman is not picking up any activity from the ground so the sound from the bombs must be going up and ricocheting off the clouds or atmosphere and resounding back to the area.

Good Comment G6; Would be nice if folks in the county showed as much initiative as Keathley does; McAlester disposal possible; Marble City blasting maybe; New Landfill cell construction in adair county; very likely.

Maybe instead of criticizing everything Keathley, not keithley, says you could maybe think he is speaking the truth! As for aliens and al capone.....wow thats cute. For facts research it, the shock waves which are produced by bombs can actually ricochet off of clouds and even the atmospheric pressure can have an effect on the shock waves. But what do I know?

Maybe it's the aliens, I mean come on. It's the only logical explanation seeing how Keithly can channel Al Capone and all.

I heard them today in the southern part of Adair County. About 5 or 6 went off between 11:30 and noon while I was outside piling brush. It was in the direction of McAlester. I've heard them before, but I figured it was the lime quarry at Marble City.

Keithley also claims to channel the dead.

Grabbing an ink pen he says was once owned by Al Capone, he closed his eyes and said "I dropped a dime on Lenny the shoeshine guy. Word on the street is the Gambinis are taking heat from the DA's office on account of that business with Frankie the Snake."

Sounds like 'Chris Keathley, Sequoyah county emergency management director' wanted to go home early. "That? Oh… that was a pigeon… go on… nothing to see here"

I heard those boom sounds again today around 11:15. I was 12 miles north of town and heard them. I thought it was coming from the east to south east from where I was. which was in no way close to the direction of McAlester...Sounds very strange to me. How can anyone figure it came from this particular place just out of the blue? "Oh well it must be coming from.....uh....McAlester...yea...McAlester......and....it must be bouncing of the clouds.....yea.....and I smoke too much CRACK!!!" I dunno maybe this person is right but I really would like to see the facts on this one.

Yeah it should be, don't think bombs can be felt here, unless it were nuclear which i doubt. But i felt a small shimmer, not a boom.
