The Christmas gifts included a variety of items such as gloves, hats, scarves, cologne, scrap-booking supplies, blankets, hair accessories and picture frames.
“Our employees at Roland have really stayed busy the past few months with activities that give back to the community. They initiated this drive to reach out to our neighbors who live in nursing homes this holiday season,” David Stewart chief executive officer of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, said.
Roland citizens may have also seen casino employees in the past few weeks working at several community events. The employees provided free food to parade-goers and volunteers after the Roland Christmas parade on Dec. 13, and participated in the clean-up effort at the Roland City Park in November.
The group also donated more than 16 cases of food to Catholic Charities in Sallisaw, which assists 160 Sequoyah County families with food a month, and helped sponsor 500 children enrolled in the Cherokee Nation Angel Tree program.
