The Lady Diamonds limited Vian to a combined 2-of-25 shooting from the floor during second and third quarters while taking command at Paul Post Fieldhouse.
The Lady Wolverines’ dry spell allowed Sallisaw to go on a 28-6 run while opening up a 21-point lead by the start of the fourth period.
The home team also got double-digit scoring from three players while advancing to the championship game. Caitlyn Hall led everyone with 15 points while Sarah Snider and Shelby Morgan dropped in 13 apiece. Snider grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to get a double-double and Morgan came down with seven boards. Caitie Goff added eight points and six rebounds, Courtney Eldridge scored threee points and Mayra Salazar, Samantha Rhodes and Erin Turner all had two each.
Vian was paced by Ashley Hooper’s 13 points. LeiLoni Smith bucketed nine points, Jessica Brunson six, Rachael Sanders five, Kiona O’Neal two, Alyx Sovo one and Katie Kinsey one.
Sanders buried a three-point shot at the end of the first quarter to hand the Lady Wolverines a 12-11 lead, but Sallisaw reeled off the first 11 points of the second period. Hall and Snider both had six points in the stanza and Eldridge sank a trey as the Lady Diamonds built a 26-15 halftime lead.
Morgan added six of her points in the third quarter and Sallisaw pulled away by holding Vian without a field goal for more than six minutes.
