Vian man arrested, faces drug charge

An investigation into the illegal distribution of controlled dangerous substances in Sequoyah County led to the arrest of a Vian man Friday morning on various drug and firearm-related charges.

Arrested was David Hereford, 40, of Vian.

District 27 Drug Task Force agents, Sequoyah County Sheriff’s deputies and Vian Police officers executed a search warrant on a Vian residence early Friday.

During the search officers reported finding substances appearing to be methamphetamine and substances appearing to be marijuana along with items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the distribution and use of controlled dangerous substances. Officers also reported finding firearms during the search.

This residence was located within 1,000 feet of Vian Schools.

Hereford, 40, was booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substances within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of controlled dangerous substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $36,500, and jail officials reported Hereford bonded out of jail Friday.
