According to the police report, Sallisaw Detective Sandra Girdner met with Randi Danielle Jones, 24, of Sallisaw at the Sequoyah Memorial Hospital emergency room were Jones had taken her 3-year-old daughter.
The results of the examination from the hospital showed the child’s femur bone of the left leg was broken and required surgery. She was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa for treatment.
Girdner reported Jones went to work around 9:40 p.m. Nov. 22, leaving her two small children home with Brannick, and did not return home until Nov.23.
The report stated when Jones arrived home she went into her children’s bedroom to wake them up for church and Jones discovered her 3-year-old beaten and bleeding lying in her bed.
During the investigation of the child abuse, Jones’ other child, a 5-year-old boy, was examined to see if there was any bruising on him. It was discovered that he had bruising across the buttocks, hips, lower back and upper thigh.
Jones and Brannick argued over Brannick spanking her son too hard and leaving bruises on him. Brannick agreed not to spank him so hard next time the report states.
According to the district attorney’s office, a warrant for Jones for enabling child abuse was issued Jan. 12. The report states, Jones knew that Brannick had spanked her children too hard and failed to protect them.
Brannick’s hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sequoyah County District Courthouse, Sallisaw.
