Deputy Lance Yoakum with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s office was called to a resident’s home about 4 p.m. Jan. 19 on East 1073 Road north of Muldrow.
Yoakum reported the front window at the resident’s home was broken and a handgun stolen. The handgun was fired inside the home, and then taken outside the home where more shots were fired.
The suspects moved to a car and a vacant neighboring home Yoakum reported. The suspects broke all windows in the home and on the car, causing an estimated $7,000 worth of damage.
Yoakum stated the handgun and ammunition were recovered in a ditch near the home, and shoe prints were retrieved from the broken glass and the car.
“We received a call about a few juveniles that were seen around the area at the time of the incident and were told that a trailer home located near by was occupied by juveniles. We then went to the home and confronted the juveniles, and a match on the shoe prints was made. At this time the juveniles then confessed to the crime,” Yoakum said.
After further investigation, Yoakum said, the juveniles confessed to damaging property located at a residence on State Highway 64B in Muldrow. Deputy Robert Gude took that report on Dec. 30. The estimated damage to that home was $6,000.
The juveniles were released to the Sequoyah County Juvenile Services. Your TIMES was unable to contact juvenile services for any further information on the juveniles.
