Winkley seeks seat one
Dale Winkler is seeking seat one for the school board. He has been a resident of the Cave Springs community for over 15 years. Winkler has served in the Army National Guard, assisted in the development of the 100 West Cave Springs Fire Station, and is in his second term as a firefighter for the fire station.
Winkler is employed with the State of Oklahoma Forestry Division and has served 15 years. Winkler has one son and one daughter, Mark and Misty.
Winkler stated that he has a sincere desire to serve the students and the community. His goal is to see the district achieves and maintains excellence in fiscal management, academic achievement, tradeskills, extra-curricular programs and citizenry.
“I would like to see our school become more innovative in the area of agriculture and industrial arts. It would benefit the students if we could broaden the maintenance, small engine repair, plumbing, and masonry to ensure our student who want to pursue a trade have the adequate knowledge in these areas,” Winkler said.
Bassett running for seat four
Mike Bassett is seeking seat four for the Cave Springs School Board. He has lived in the community for six years. Bassett has 16 years of military service, serving during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. For the past two years he has served as a Jailer for the Adair County Sheriff’s Department and was previously an EMT with the Stilwell Ambulance Service.
“I am proud of the bible classes that support character building in the students. My goal is to transpire Cave Springs to bring stability/unity to the board of education in an effort to attract highly qualified teachers who have a passion for the students.
Bassett and his wife, Jane, have been committed Christians in ministry for the past 35 years. He plans to work toward continual progress in an effort to produce students who have mastered employable skills, morals, virtues, and citizenry.
“It is my genuine aspiration for Cave Springs to achieve greater gains in all aspects of education and extra-curricular activities,” Bassett said.
