Circumstances surrounding a fire that damaged a home Wednesday morning in Sallisaw is undetermined and still under investigation by the Sallisaw Fire Department.

Sallisaw Fire Chief Anthony Armstrong said firefighters were called to the home of Jessica Dominic on 1204 Taylor Oak Rd at 8 a.m. No one was home at the time of the fire except a cat, which firefighters rescued.

Jarrett Hetherington, the firefighter that was hurt during the fire was not seriously injured. Armstrong reported that Hetherington did not have any fractures to his arm or wrist. Hetherington was treated and released from the Sequoyah County Emergency room in Sallisaw.

He said 17 fire fighters were on the scene of the house fire and the fire was under control in 15 minutes. Fire, smoke and heat damages were estimated to be $75,000, Armstrong said.
