Circumstances surronding a fire that damaged a home Wednesday morning in Sallisaw are undetermined and still under investigation by the Sallisaw Fire Department.

Sallisaw Fire Chief Anthony Armstrong said firefighters were called to the home of Jessica Dominic on 1204 Taylor Oak Rd. at 8 a.m. No one was home at the time of the fire except a cat, which firefighters rescued.

Jarrett Hetherington, the firefighter hurt during the fire, was not seriously injured. Armstrong reported. Hetherington did not have any fractures to his arm or wrist. Hetherington was treated and released from the Sequoyah County Emergency room in Sallisaw.

He said 17 firefighters were on the scene of the house fire and the fire was under control in 15 minutes. Fire, smoke and heat damages were estimated to be $75,000, Armstrong said.
