Thomas Vernon Stroud, 50, of Muldrow was arrested on Jan. 28 after he broke through the door of his ex-wife’s home and pointed a .22 caliber pistol at her forehead.

According to the report the victim told Deputy Roy L. Coleman that she and her granddaughter were sitting on the couch when Stroud broke through the front door of her home and pointed the pistol at her. Stroud told the victim “he would kill her and then kill himself.” He continued to say he would kill her as he walked out the door into the woods near the home.

The report states that Coleman tried to locate the suspect but was unsuccessful. Stroud has two prior felony convictions in Sequoyah County.

Stroud was charged in Sequoyah County District Court with burglary in the first degree, feloniously pointing a firearm and possession of a firearm after conviction or during probation.

According to the Sequoyah County Court Clerk’s office a felony warrant has been issued for Stroud’s arrest.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
