The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Firefighter Dewayne Burgess said.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
The utilities to the house had been turned off, Fire Chief Anthony Armstrong said.
“The fire probably started in the bedroom. We found a burned hole with burn out spots all around it,” Armstrong said.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes, Armstrong said.
This is the second time the house had caught fire. The first time was at 8:09 a.m. Nov. 4. The fire started in the living room and was determine to be electrical, Armstrong said at the time.
Judy Berglan, owner of the house, applied for a permit to tear down the house March 9 and the house was scheduled to be torn down this week, Chris Carter, Sallisaw code enforcement officer, said.
