Sequoyah County basketball players dominate this season’s NOAA All-Conference honors as four local hoopsters were honored as Players of the Year.

League coaches selected Tri-Players of the Year in the girls division with Muldrow’s Sarah Martin, Roland’s Ericka Edwards and Sallisaw’s Sarah Snider sharing the honor.

Roland’s Levi Biggerstaff was the NOAA Boys Co-Player of the Year along with Heath Holmes of Stilwell.

Martin was the leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs, who posted a 22-4 record. The Arkansas Tech-signee finished as the third-leading scorer at the Class 4A state tournament as Muldrow made it to the semifinal round.

Edwards was a four-year starter at Roland and led the Lady Rangers in scoring and rebounding this season.

Snider, a 6-foot post player, led Sallisaw in scoring and rebounding and shot 60.4 percent from the floor as a senior.

Biggerstaff was instrumental in helping Roland post a 21-5 record this past season.

Jana Armer of Muldrow was the NOAA Girls Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Bulldogs to a 9-1 record in league play and the conference championship.

Boys Coach of the Year honors were shared by Roland’s Ed Lewis and Stilwell’s Ron Dunaway after both guided their teams to 9-1 league records and a share of the NOAA title.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
