Raborn leads SHS golfers to 3rd at OKC tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY - Sallisaw got a top-five finish from Robert Raborn and the Black Diamonds went on to claim a third-place team finish on Monday at the Lake Hefner North high school golf tournament.

A strong field of 18 schools were at the event and the Black Diamonds had a four-player score of 347 to place behind Fort Gibson (332) and Bishop McGuinness (337).

Raborn had the Black Diamonds’ lowest score. He shot 41 on both the front and the back nine holes to finish at 82, which was good for fifth overall.

Cody Walters added an 87 for Sallisaw, while Hayden Lillard and Skyler Williams both shot 89s and Chance Lowe had a 95.

Muldrow and Roland also competed at the tournament. Muldrow came in 10th place with a team score of 366. Landon Powers led the Bulldogs with an 87. Jamey Day and Brett Thompson both carded 91s, Brice Earls shot a 97 and Ryan Farney had a 99 for Muldrow.

Roland finished at 394. Blake Flurry’s 93 was the low round for the Rangers, who got a 97 from Brent Young, a 99 from Evan Morton, a 105 from Drew Roberts and a 113 from Tyler Kelley.

Medalist honors went to Harrison Shipp of Idabel. Shipp fired a 77 to edge runner-up Tyler Russell of Elk City by one stroke.

Tanner Owens of Fort Gibson took third place with a 79 to lead the Tigers to the team trophy.
