Three golfers from Sequoyah County were among the top-10 placers on Thursday at the annual Lady Diamond Invitational in Sallisaw.

On a rainy day at Shadow Creek, Sallisaw’s Megan Bartel led the local competitors with a round of 91. That effort was good for third place overall for the Lady Diamond senior.

Roland had a pair of girls finish among the leaders as Ravyn Jiles and Libby Younger both carded 94s to finish in a three-way tie for sixth with Hilldale’s Ashlee Berner. Jiles and Younger led the Lady Rangers to a third-place finish in the team standings. Roland shot 395 as a team.

Oktaha captured the team championship, the second of the spring for the Lady Tigers. They were paced by Keely Kincaid, who shot a 92 to place fourth. Teammate Emery Fox was one stroke back at 93. Oktaha’s four-player team score was 379.

Hilldale also shot a 379, but got second after a scorecard tie-breaker. The Lady Hornets were paced by Chastity Radanovich, who won medalist honors after shooting an 80.

Jamie Hendrix of Fort Gibson was the individual runner-up with an 81.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
