Three Sallisaw residents were charged with various drug and firearm related charges after a narcotics search warrant was served at a home located in Fullbright Mobile Home Park in Sallisaw.

Cynthia Welch (also known as Cynthia Henning or Cynthia Curry), 46, Luke McKinley Walden, 20, and Jacob Colby Henning, 23, of Sallisaw were arrested during the April 8 narcotics search.

Sallisaw Police Officers Billy Oliver, Herb Hutchinson and Detective John Weber arrived at the mobile home park north on U.S. Highway 59 around 3:30 p.m.

According to the report, Hutchinson said when they arrived at the residence and Oliver announced they were there on a police search warrant they heard Welch yelling, “police.”

Oliver and Hutchinson entered the residence along with other officers. The other officers ordered Welch and Walden to the floor while Oliver, Hutchinson and Weber searched the home for other suspects.

Hutchinson found Henning reaching in to the closet in the back bedroom and ordered him to show his hands and get down. Henning told Hutchinson that he had scales and guns in the bedroom.

The search of the residence uncovered a Taurus .45-caliber semi-auto pistol with four rounds, a Mossberg bolt action rifle, a plastic bag with a large amount of green leafy substance and a glass smoking device commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, several sets of scales, both mechanical and digital, a bottle of Xanax pills without a prescription label, and multiple plastic baggies along with other drugs and paraphernalia in every room.

All three suspects were placed under arrest and taken to the Sallisaw City Jail where they were booked on various drug-related charges.

Welch and Henning were charged April 14 in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, with possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Walden was charged with municipal charges of simple possession of marijuana.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
