Beverly Smith, chairman, said the Survivor Dinner begins at 5 p.m. and the relay begins at 7 p.m. There will be fun activities and celebration all night at the football field.
“This celebration of life brings the community together in a unified effort to fight cancer and symbolized the battle cancer patients face after they are diagnosed with the disease,” Smith said.
“Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities to celebrate survivors and remember loved ones. Teams of 8 to 15 members gather to participate and raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy and patient service programs.
“Cancer does not stop at nighttime, so we’re not going to stop at nighttime either,” Smith said. “We hope the community will join us in this fight.”
To volunteer for relay, call Smith at (918) 774-4902.
“Cancer does not discriminate,” she said. “It affects everyone. Like adults, youths want to fight back against the disease that has attacked a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, friend or even themselves. There will be fun activities at the event for the entire family.”
