Tommy Click of Muldrow was awarded Oklahoma Rural Water Manager of the Year April 16 at the 39th annual conference in Tulsa.

Click has been the manager of Rural Water District 7 in Muldrow for 33 years before retiring in March.

When Click took over as manager, the district served about 200 customers. Under his leadership the district now serves 1,850 customers.

Highlights of Click’s career include implementing a GPS system for the entire water system, relocating and building new offices, a shop area, and assisting with addresses for 9-1-1.

Susan Wilkerson, who has worked as Click’s secretary for the last 13 years nominated him as Manager of the Year. Wilkerson gathered several letters of recommendations along with much support from the community.

Click was also recently honored in a retirement party at the rural water offices.  Customers, friends and family turned out to celebrate his career.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
