The annual NOAA All-Star baseball game didn’t go as planned on Monday evening, but a number of area standouts still got to show off their talents at Sallisaw’s Black Diamond Field.

Sallisaw’s David Hadley hit a first-inning home run to lead the North All-Stars to a 5-2 win over the South in a make-shift game that was played despite several no-shows.

A number of invited players were unable to play on Monday night, so many of the All-Stars switched sides through the four-inning contest, batting and fielding for both the North and the South.

Hadley was one of many who showed their versatility on Monday, while playing center field, catcher and pitcher. After being honored as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year before the game, Hadley then displayed his prowess at the plate by blasting a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Sallisaw teammate Tyler Sutherland followed him with a single and eventually scored on a passed ball to give the North a 2-0 lead.

Sallisaw freshman Nick Walker stepped in at the last minute to handle the catching duties for both teams. He looked the part of an All-Star with an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning to hand the North a 4-1 lead.

Sutherland, a Sallisaw outfielder who went to the plate for both sides and even pitched an inning for the South, went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Black Diamond teammate Trevor Prewett went 1-for-3 with a single and Walker was 1-for-2.

Dalton Campbell represented Central in the game and fellow Tiger Taylor Davidson was a late addition, scoring one run for each team and going 1-for-2 at the plate.

Kyle Enneking of Stilwell was the winning pitcher for the North, strikng out four and allowing one hit in two innings on the mound.

Enneking shared Co-Pitcher of the Year honors with Sallisaw right-hander Trevor Prewett. Stilwell’s Heath Holmes was named conference Most Valuable Player and the Coach of the Year award went to Muldrow‘s Archie Ryan, who directed the South All-Stars on Monday night.

These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher.
