The bidding could get hot on a Marlin hunting rifle, an antique shotgun, or maybe even a collector-type Ruger pistol.

These types of firearms, along with other high quality firearms by Colt, Smith & Wesson, Winchester and Remington, are among the approximate 200 firearms that will be sold to the highest bidder at the District 27 District Attorney’s forfeited property auction. The sale will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 at Montana Trading Post located one-half mile north of the intersection of State Highway 51 and U.S. Highway 69 in Wagoner.

A spokesman for District Attorney Jerry Moore said the firearms being auctioned off were all forfeited as a result of numerous drug-related investigations within the four-county district of Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Wagoner Counties. Proceeds from the auction are split amongst the District 27 Drug Task Force and the other area law enforcement agencies participating in the investigations. Proceeds generated by the sale can be used by these agencies, many of which are smaller agencies and have limited budgets, to purchase equipment to be used to further drug investigations within their jurisdictions.

For more information about the auction, contact Mark Dodd at the District Attorney’s Bogus Check Office at (918) 485-2058 or Randy Graham at Montana Trading Post at (918) 485-0722.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
