Webbers Falls has been eliminated from the playoff race in District C-4, but the Warriors will be playing for pride on Friday night when they travel to Bokoshe for their next-to-last game of the season.

A 42-34 loss to Midway last Friday dropped the Warriors to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Bokoshe is also coming off a loss, but the Tigers still have a shot to make it to the postseason despite falling to Maud 48-6 last Friday.

The Tigers, who are 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the district, are tied with Sasakwa for fourth place behind Maud, Midway and Claremore Christian. Bokoshe and Sasakwa will play in week 10.

Heath McBeth is the head coach at Bokoshe and some of his top players are Stephen Southerland, Steven Monroe and Brett Abernathy.

Southerland, a junior, leads the team in rushing with 668 yards and 11 touchdowns on 52 carries. Senior quarterback Monroe has passed for 582 yards and four touchdowns, while Abernathy has caught 32 balls for 557 yards and four TDs.

Some of the other key players for Bokoshe include Darryl Crase, Josh Crase, Bryan Beam and Alex Abernathy.

Webbers Falls has been led this season by Chad Dandridge, Hunter Hume, Mitchell Carman, A.J. McFarland and Justin Lea.

Dandridge has completed 53-of-90 passes for 605 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Carman is the top receiver with 23 catches for 270 yards and seven TDs. Hume leads the team in rushing with 120 carries for 558 yards and seven touchdowns.

McFarland is Webbers Falls’ top tackler with 107 and Justin Lea is next with 82. Allen Lea has made 76 tackles and Kile Turley 69.

In last week’s loss to Midway, Mitchell Carman scored on a 38-yard touchdown run and Hume went 15 yards for another TD. Dandridge accounted for three touchdowns, passing to Carman for scoring strikes of nine and three yards in addition to a 14-yard run.

Hume ran for 74 yards on 20 carries and Dandridge picked up 68. Dandridge also completed 10 passes for 70 yards, with Carman catching nine of those for 68 yards. McFarland made a team-high 14 tackles for the defense.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
