Webbers Falls will close out its 2008 football season at home on Friday night when the Warriors host White Oak at Smokey Cox Stadium.

The Warriors will be celebrating Senior Night as well, as Kile Turley, Justin Lea, Allen Lea, Cody Gaxiola and Jacob Glad suit up for the final time and try to close out their careers with a victory.

“We’ve got those five seniors and they’re going to be hard to replace,” said Webbers Falls head coach Jeff Jones. “We’ll try to get them a lot of playing time on Friday and, hopefully, we’ll win and come out of the game with a smile on our face.”

Webbers Falls enters the game at 3-6 overall and 2-5 in District C-4, while White Oak is 1-7 and 1-6. The Ranchers’ lone victory was a 44-28 win over Kinta two weeks ago.

“Their quarterback is Austin Hayes and they run the triple option a lot,” said Jones, who coached at White Oak earlier in his career. “Their tailback, Ethan Charles, has run for 1,000 yards and the fullback is Travis Wickliffe. Their offense isn’t bad, but they’ve struggled on defense.”

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
