Lezli Pool, festival coordinator, said since its inception in 1969 the festival has steadily increased in size every year. She said it is now one of the largest in the region. She said last year over 30,000 people came to look at the exhibits
The three-day event occupies three permanent buildings and more than 100 outdoor tents on the resort property. Pools said while the majority of the exhibitors are from Oklahoma, there are craftsmen from Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana and Texas who will also have their work on display.
Pool said this year’s merchandise will include hummingbird feeders, hand-poured candles, picture quilts, floral arrangements, cowboy boot purses, quilts, jewelry, adults’ and children’s clothing, woodworking, personalized photo frames and name plaques, jewelry of many mediums, potpourri, tie-dyed T-shirts, furniture and more.
In addition to the arts and crafts, festival goers may also purchase different foods, such as kettle-popped corn, turkey legs, funnel cakes, baked potatoes, roasted ears of corn, Bavarian roasted nuts, roasted peanuts, corndogs, Cajun specialties, cotton candy, caramel apple sundaes, Soda Steve’s homemade root beer floats, cheese fries and more. Pool said Soda Steve’s has a very unique atmosphere. She said there is a disco ball and an old antique fashion bathtub in the middle of the restaurant.
“The bath tub is supposed to be used for washing hands, but people climbing in and taking pictures happens quite often,” Pool giggled.
Nannie’s at the Fin, the Fin and Feather buffet, will also be open during the festival.
