GORE - Central scored three second-half touchdowns on Friday night as the Tigers overcame a halftime deficit to pick up a big 24-7 win over Gore K.G. Horn Stadium.

Gore led 7-0 at the break on a 9-yard Logan Andrews touchdown run, but Central controlled the second half of the District A-6 contest to hand the Pirates their first loss of the year.

Quarterback Shade Kutil scored on a 3-yard and a 1-yard run for Central and teammate Ryan Rogers broke a 30-yard TD run as the Tigers improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the district. Gore dropped to 5-1 and 4-1 as well.

Both teams will be in action on Thursday night as Central hosts Pocola and Gore visits Porum.

Sallisaw 31, Fort Gibson 28

FORT GIBSON - Sallisaw came from behind to snatch an overtime win over Fort Gibson on Friday night at Leo Donohue Tiger Stadium.

A Matt Oberste-to-Trey Wiley touchdown pass put the Black Diamonds over the top in the first overtime period as they improved to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in District 4A-4.

Sallisaw had to rally throughout the second half. Phillip Lefler’s field goal tied the game at 25-25 late in regulation and the Diamonds had a chance to win in the final seconds. However, on third-and-goal from the Tiger 7, Fort Gibson intercepted a pass to force overtime.

Fort Gibson got the ball first in OT and kicked a field goal to go up 28-25. Sallisaw then got the go-ahead touchdown to drop the Tigers to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the district.

Oberste had a pair of touchdown passes in the game, including a 47-yarder to Andrew Miller in the fourth quarter. Dakota Petree scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and Wiley returned an interception 30 yards for another Sallisaw score.

Next up for the Diamonds is a Thursday night home game against Poteau.

Metro Christian 41, Roland 39

TULSA - Class 3A No. 5-ranked Metro Christian opened up a 41-7 lead in the third quarter and weathered a furious Roland comeback bid on Friday to stay undefeated.

Teven Thompson’s 50-yard touchdown run sparked the Ranger comeback and Jeremy Morris ran 25 yards for another score as Roland closed the gap to 41-19 by the start of the fourth period.

Then, Roland tagged Metro for three more scores in a two-minute span to close to within two points.

Thompson ran 3 yards for a touchdown with 9:32 left in the game to make it 41-26. Less than a minute later, Alex Cole intercepted a Metro pass and took it 27 yards to the end zone. Cole struck again moments later, returning another interception 40 yards as the Rangers made it 41-39 with 7:41 left in the contest.

Metro Christian held on, though, to improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in District 3A-4. Roland is 2-4 and 1-2 ahead of Thursday’s road game at Kellyville.

Vian 28, Adair 26

ADAIR - The Vian Wolverines knocked Adair from the ranks of the unbeaten on Friday night with a close win.

Dylan Taylor ran for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter as Vian moved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in District 2A-8. The Warriors dropped to 5-1 and 2-1.

John Jumper returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown and Taylor scored on a 7-yard run to give Vian a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

However, Adair stormed in front with three second-quarter TDs to grab a 20-14 lead.

Taylor ran 4 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and, after Adair regained the lead, went 13 yards for the game-winner with just over five minutes remaining.

Vian’s next game is Thursday night at home against Kansas.

Hilldale 35, Muldrow 20

MUSKOGEE - Josh Cullom ran for 157 yards and scored three touchdowns to power Hilldale past the Bulldogs in District 4A-4 action on Friday.

Muldrow was within 21-20 on a 48-yard TD pass from Donathan Caudill to J.P. Hill, but Cullom scored on a pair of second-half TD runs as the Hornets pulled away.

Muldrow sliped to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in the league, while Hilldale improved to 3-3 and 1-2.

Muldrow will visit Tulsa Webster on Thursday night.
