U.S. Congressman Dan Boren (D-OK) will hold two telephone town hall meetings, one on Tuesday and a second on Oct. 26.

Cole Perryman, Boren’s spokesman, said the telephone town hall meetings will be held at 6:20 p.m. each day, and each session will last for one hour.

Boren said, “Telephone town halls are great opportunities for constituents to join the discussion on issues being considered by Congress.  They are an effective and efficient way to reach an even larger number of people across the 25 counties in the 2nd Congressional District.  I encourage anyone that would like to participate to call any one of my offices to sign-up.  These question-and-answer sessions are a key part of helping me better represent eastern Oklahoma.”

Those wishing to participate should call any one of Boren’s offices and provide his or her name, telephone number and address to be added.

The phone numbers are: (202) 225-2701 in Washington, D.C.; (918) 687-2544 in Muskogee; (918) 341-9336 in Claremore; (918) 423-5951 in McAlester; and (580) 931-0333 in Durant.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
