The candidates were nominated by third, fourth, and fifth grade classes, ballot boxes were placed at Armstrong Bank and Harp Grocery Store in Gore and the winner is determined by the student receiving the most votes. Votes were actually cash donations, Terry Sloan, Gore and Webbers Falls Lions Club treasurer, said.
“Each student participating in the contest received a commemorative trophy and rode in the annual Gore Christmas Parade,” Sloan said.
“Funds raised in the contest are used by the Lions Club for eyeglasses and eye exams for area families as well as other community service activities. This year we raised $499.49,” Sloan said.
“We thank the Armstrong Bank and Jodi’s Buds and Blossoms for their contributions and Harp’s Grocery Store for allowing the use of their business,” Sloan said.
“Congratulations to Mrs. Allenbaugh’s fourth grade class for having the winning contestant, Peyton Foley. The class will received a pizza party from the Lions Club,” Sloan said.
