Vandals are believed responsible for over $1,500 in damage that was done to the men's restroom at the Muldrow Park Tuesday night.

Muldrow Police Chief Tony Lewis said sometime after dark on Tuesday a person or persons entered the men's restroom at the park and destroyed most of the toilets and fixtures. Vandals destroyed all but one restroom fixture, with the damage including sinks, toilets, and urinals

Damages are estimated between $1,500 and $2,000. Other recent acts of similar vandalism have also occurred in this same restroom, Lewis said.

Lewis said he believes the vandals are juveniles. He doesn't know what the vandals used to destroy the fixtures.

The police department's Crime Stoppers program is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the damage.

Lewis said the police department will be conducting both routine patrols and undercover surveillance of the park. Any person caught damaging or destroying city property will be immediately arrested. In the event the suspect is a juvenile, the parents of the child will be held monetarily liable for the acts of their child.

Lewis urges park visitors to report any suspicious activity at the park. Callers can remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stoppers phone line at (918) 427-0000, or in the event of an emergency, they may call 9-1-1.

"Acts of vandalism are considered felony crimes and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Lewis said.
