Former Gore True Value employee Daniel Michael Connor, 39, of Sallisaw was charged Jan. 26 in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, with embezzling $8,535.

According to court documents, from March to November 2009 Connor allegedly was falsifying returns and taking the money and merchandise. When owner Don Carter confronted Connor about the merchandise and money he admitted to it, according to the Gore police report.

The report states Connor told Carter he wanted to make it right, and Conner brought back some of the merchandise. Carter discovered the store was missing a generator and he asked Connor about it, and Connor brought it back.

Carter also discovered the store was missing chains, blowers, and a trimmer. When Carter asked Connor about the equipment, Conner said he had taken them but he didn’t have them anymore, according to the report.

Connor could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Connor’s arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 10 in Sequoyah County District Court, in Sallisaw.

You know this is why seqouyah county never steps into the present day, because so much of the past corruption is either handed down or carried on. I'm so tired of the crooked corrupt way the law in this county is abused at the taxpayers expense. Jobs, Street repair, health care, not to mention the reputation of this area to the rest of the world...come on; your our public leaders, Please follow the same laws we all should have to follow.
