Strebeck will present a slide program of the old homes and discuss the Great Old Houses of Sallisaw at 2 p.m. Sunday at the meeting of the Sequoyah County Historical Society. The meeting will be held at the society’s museum at 200 E. Creek in Sallisaw.
“Some of the old houses have not survived the test of time, but we still have photographs and other records about them,” Strebeck said this week. “Most are lovingly well cared for, while others are neglected and in danger of being torn down, sometimes without consideration of their historical importance.
“Each old house has a story all its own and many have played a memorable party in the history of the town,” Strebeck said.
Everyone interested in the older homes of Sallisaw or the history of the area may attend the meeting on Nov. 16.
