Sallisaw police zipped up the case of a flasher who allegedly exposed his genitals to a patron outside a Sallisaw convenience store early Wednesday morning.

Austin Craighead, 26, was arrested after a police pursuit Wednesday morning and was booked into the city jail for indecent exposure and escaping or attempting to escape from arrest. He was released Thursday morning after posting a $3,000 bond, jail records indicate.

At about 8 a.m. Wednesday police were dispatched to Quick Stop No. 2 at 423 N. Wheeler in reference to a male subject exposing himself to a female in a parking lot.

Police later took a statement from the victim, who said that she went into the store and saw a male that she knew as Craighead. The victim said she left the store and was walking to her vehicle when she saw Craighead, who had left the store a few minutes before her, standing in front of her car. She told police that she got in her car and began to leave when she looked up and saw Craighead, who was wearing pajama pants, exposing his penis.

Craighead was later spotted by police on Quesenbury Avenue, but when he was told to stop, he fled the scene. After a short police pursuit Craighead was taken into custody at the corner of Cedar and Wyandotte. He was booked into the city jail.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
