The Muldrow Bulldog Band has been invited to attend the second annual National Anthem Project Flag Day Event in Washington, D.C., June 12 through 15.

Muldrow Mayor Catherine Jones recently proclaimed May 3 as Muldrow Bulldog Band Day. The band members will hold several fundraisers plus a free concert in Muldrow Park.

The fundraisers are a yard sale and car wash at Simple Simons at 803 S. Main, washing windows at the Armstrong Bank at 810 E. Shawntel Smith Blvd., and a bake sale at Piggly Wiggy at 1001 E. Shawntel Smith Blvd.

A concert and barbecue dinner will be held in the Muldrow Park at 5 p.m.

The dinner is $7 per person and includes barbecue brisket, bread, baked beans, potato salad, chips, drinks, and dessert. The Muldrow Masonic Lodge will serve the dinner.

The free concert will start at 6 p.m. to thank the community for their support, Tammy McGee, band booster president, said.

"Bring a chair and enjoy an evening in the park for some good food and some good music," McGee said.

The concert will include a performance by the Muldrow Bulldog Band, individuals from the Muldrow Show Choir and a special concert by Joey and A.J. Calvillo.

Band members are also selling chances to win a Gabbert Ranch Polled Hereford steer on the hoof. The chances are $20 and the Gabbert Ranch will deliver to the processing plant of their choice within reasonable distance, McGee said.

All of the proceeds will help send the band to Washington, D.C.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
