A Muldrow man was charged Tuesday with four felony counts in connection with the alleged sexual molestation of two young girls, who are now 9 and 4 years old.

William Edward Ledbetter, 28, of Muldrow faces two counts of sodomy, one count of lewd molestation, and one count of first-degree rape by instrumentation for incidents involving the girls that allegedly occurred in Muldrow and Sallisaw, according to court records.

According to court records, the victims' mother reported to Muldrow Police Department on Jan. 6 that her daughters had recently revealed they had been molested by Ledbetter between October 2003 and February 2004. During an interview with Muldrow Police Chief Tony Lewis, the 9-year-old described an incident of abuse, which allegedly took place at a Muldrow home.

The mother told police that she never had any indications that sexual abuse had occurred, but she alleged that Ledbetter was physically and verbally abusive to all the children.

On Jan. 9, the victims also told Sallisaw Police about alleged sexual abuse that occurred at an apartment in Sallisaw.

A warrant was issued Monday for Ledbetter's arrest. According to jail records, Ledbetter had not been booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw as of Tuesday afternoon.
