The Muldrow High School (MHS) newspaper and yearbook staff attended Media Day at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

The MHS Bulldog yearbook placed first in the Overall Excellence in Yearbook 3A division. The MHS Voice placed first in overall news writing and an honorable mention in overall newspaper.

There were different sessions offered for the students in the morning. Some of these include taking better pictures, on-line yearbook and motion video. Overall the MHS Voice and Bulldog yearbook did well.

Individual journalism students who received awards are Crystal Jones, second place in advertising in the yearbook division, and Trey Mabray, third place in the newspaper division; Heather Merrill, first in newspaper editorial division; Krisie Hubbard, third in the feature writing division; Tray Mabray, first, and Sarah Webb, second in the sports writing division; Rachel Hill, first, and Sarah Webb, third, in the news writing division; and Trey Mabray received an honorable mention in the new writing division.

Trey Mabray, MHS Voice editor, was named the Overall Outstanding Media Student.

"This was a great award for Trey," Niki Alderson, MHS Voice advisor, said. "The outstanding media student was chosen from all the students, high school and college, who entered and attended Media Day. Trey is a super editor and was very deserving of this award."

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
