Coronado Hugo Martinez, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene, while five passengers in Martinez's vehicle were injured, Webbers Falls Police Officer Eric Stinnett said.
Stinnett said Martinez was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe east on Interstate 40 when the accident occurred at about 6:20 a.m. He said Martinez veered the Tahoe off the road for an unknown reason, putting the vehicle into a slide. Stinnett said the driver may have been sleepy.
"The vehicle rolled at least three times, possibly four," Stinnett said.
Martinez, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and Eilo Castro, one of the five passengers, were the only two out of the six who were not ejected.
The four who were thrown from the vehicle were Eileen Castro, 2; Maria Castro, 9 months; Cendy Castro, 23; and Beatriz Becerra Martinez, 51, all of Clarksville.
Stinnett said it is unknown whether the passengers thrown from the vehicle were wearing seatbelts or in car seats at the time of the accident because everything, including the car seats, were thrown out of the vehicle.
Stinnett said the two children were lifeflighted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where the 9-month-old was admitted with leg trauma. The others were taken to Muskogee Regional Medical Center.
"I don't know what condition they are in today," Stinnett said Tuesday.
