A head-on collision three miles north of Muldrow Monday sent two Sequoyah County men to the hospital.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that the accident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. on State Highway 64B.

Damon Crawford, 40, of Sallisaw was driving a 1989 Chevrolet truck northbound when he went left of center and struck a southbound vehicle head on. Crawford was trapped in his vehicle for 20 minutes before being freed by Maple Fire and Rescue.

Crawford, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was admitted to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., where he was listed in stable condition with leg and internal injuries, the OHP reported.

Michael Branum, 35, of Muldrow, who was the driver of the second vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle, was treated and released, according to the OHP. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, the OHP indicated.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
