Tommy Allen, Chasidy Harvey, and Victor Kenneth Paul Patterson, whose ages and residences are not known, were arrested at the scene, according to the police report.
Officer Wendel Hughes was on duty at about 10:22 a.m. Dec. 29 when he saw a white four-door car fitting the description of a stolen vehicle from Fort Smith, Ark. The car traveled east on Cherokee Avenue and later was discovered parked at Harton's Detail Shop at 315 E. Choctaw.
According to Hughes' report, he saw two men, one of whom was later identified as Allen, walking from the car into the business. Hughes reported that he saw four men in the shop window. After ordering several men to the floor while awaiting for backup, Hughes reported that Allen began running toward the road from the building. Despite several requests to stop, Allen refused. At that time Sallisaw Police Chief Shaloa Edwards arrived, ordering Allen to the ground.
Patterson, who lived in the building, allegedly gave police permission to search his room. During the search, police allegedly found a small bag that had a green leafy substance inside that tested positive for marijuana. Police also uncovered a wood smoking device inside an ice chest, as well as a metal pipe with burnt residue, cigar paper containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana, and rolling paper containing a burnt leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.
Harvey and Patterson were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Hughes reported that he received statements from others who placed the stolen vehicle in Allen's possession.
Allen, who was wanted in Fort Smith for the vehicle theft, was placed under arrest for knowingly concealing stolen property and bringing stolen property into the state.
All others were released after questioning.
