A woman originally from Vian is facing embezzlement charges in Fort Smith, Ark., after allegedly embezzling more than $100,000 from her former employer.

According to a press release issued by Fort Smith Police Sgt. Jarrard Copeland, Wayne King, the owner of Complete Medical Solutions, reported on Dec. 28 to Fort Smith Police that one of his employees, Tambra Gowin, had stolen money from his business.

Copeland reported that Gowin, 49, was the office manager and bookkeeper for the business and King suspected she had been stealing from the business for the past two years. King terminated Gowin on Jan. 1.

Detective Ron Scamardo investigated the case and eventually determined that Gowin had embezzled over $100,000 from the business. Gowin, who is currently working in Oklahoma, was arrested after she turned herself in on Jan. 29. She was booked into the Sebastian County Jail in Fort Smith with a $25,000 bond. She later bonded out of jail.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
